Taya Red in Shei-Jian
On the morning of September 10th, VIPs from all industries witnessed the Taya Tribe’s Fashion Show, organized by the management department of Shei-Pa National Park and the National Museum of Pre-history. This event, which showcased a different side of tradition and fashion, was held in the “Shei-Jian Recreation Area.” Fashionable design combined with the Taya tribe’s traditional craft of weaving and using vibrant textures were displayed through a fashion show to express Taiwan’s beauty. Furthermore, this year’s event welcomed the presence of Vice President Hsiao Wan Chang and his wife. The event kicked off with a prayer ceremony hosted by the tribal elders, who prayed to the ancestral Taya sprits for a successful event before humming a song about weaving. The climax of the event arrived when models clad in several traditional and innovative Taya outfits made their way down the catwalk. The fashion show was divided into four themes including traditional, texture and prints, linen, color and handmade weave. The most special outfit to be displayed was the bells and pearls outfit. Out of all the traditional Taya outfits, this garment held the most prestigious position, worn only by the tribal chief or warriors that have had many successful feats of courage. The Taya tribe’s beautiful cultural designs, vibrant colors and aboriginal aesthetics lead to pure admiration and awe.
