Kinmen National Park Holds the “2011 Kinmen Tunnel Music Festival”
Having been held three years in succession, the unique and renowned “Kinmen Keng-Dao Music Festival” will take place again this year in October. Cello maestro Chang Cheng-Chieh has been appointed as Creative Director and visitors will be delighted with the romantic and elegant string orchestra as a feast to their ears. Zaizun Tunnel was originally built for military purposes in the 1960s, but, with passing time, it has transformed into a famous tourist destination today. Tourists are in for a very special and unique experience as the eyes and ears are delighted by the glittering view, the naturally formed music box within the granite cave and the sounds of romantic and elegant music. The management department of the park explains that, due to the uniqueness of the tunnel site and in order to protect the safety of the audience, only 250 people are allowed for every performance. Those that wish to participate must sign up beforehand (thanks to the wonderful turn out, this year’s spots have all filled up).
