“The Legend of Nature—Kinmen’s Geology and Terrain” Launches DVD!

“The Legend of Nature—Kinmen’s Geology and Terrain” (temporary translation) is the newest DVD completed by Kinmen National Park, and introduces the magnificent and unique geology of Kinmen. Kinmen today is the result of the Yanshan Orogenic Movement that occurred more than one billion years ago. The movement caused the land to swell up and mature into granite. After weathering, the land formed into hills such as the Taiwu Mountain and Wuhu Mountain. The foundation stones of these mountains are a combination of granite gneiss and granite. The video is shot from an aerial view and uses special photography skills to display the geological beauty of the coast. It further connects the geology, plants, agriculture, architectures and all forms of nature with culture and the humanities. Another DVD, “Paradise on the Sea—Lieyu”, introduces the scenic spots of Kinmen’s Lieyu. Kinmen’s Lieyu, also known as Xiao Kinmen (Small Kinmen), is located west of Kinmen Island and is a little island situated amid the Jinxia Sea. The coast is roughly twenty kilometers long and the route that circles around the island and connects to the military spots offers a spectacular view unique to Lieyu. Visitors are able to admire an array of military relics. For further information regarding the DVDs, please visit the Kinmen National Park website.
