2011 Taroko Gorge Marathon on November 5th: traffic control from Taroko Bridge to Tienhsiang for the “Kiss 100” and “Cheer 100” Activities; family members of the athletes are welcome to register onsite for these events

The 2011 Taroko Gorge Marathonwill take place on November 5th (Saturday). The schedule of RouteNo.8 traffic control is as follow: (1) from the southern terminal section ofthe Taroko Bridge of the Central Cross-Island Highway (189.8K) to Tienhsiang(169K), 4am to 14pm; once the last athlete has passed the Taroko Archway, thecontrol chokepoint will shift to the southern side of the Jinwen Bridge, at theentrance to Taroko. (2) from the Old Route No.9 northern side of the TarokoBridge to the northern side of the Jinwen Bridge, 5am to 14pm. All cars andvehicles are off limit to the above areas during the controlled time slotsexcept emergency rescue and utility vehicles. All vehicles parked at the Taroko Visitor Center parking lot and onthe marathon routes are also required to vacate the areas by 5am. The TarokoHeadquarters will also host the “Kiss 100”and the “Cheer 100” activitiesfor the friends and families of the athletes, recruiting 20 couples to kiss for100 seconds, and calling for groups of 2 participants to shout out “Cheers for 100 years of ROC” as close to 100 decibels as possible.Winners will receive exquisite prizes. The Taroko Headquarters also welcome allparticipants and dependents to stay an extra day and experience the beauty ofHualien.
