The "2011 ~ 2012English Services Emblem" program launched by the Research, Development andEvaluation Commission of the Executive Yuan in partnership with the localgovernment provides assistance to the retail, hospitality, tourism & leisure,medical and transportation service industries in improving their Englishproficiency. Certified merchants are then awarded the "English ServicesEmblem". A total of 1,376 merchants took part in the program. The program awarded70 merchants Gold Medals, including 3 in Kinmen County.Two of these were the "Visit Kinmen" and "Piano Piano" bed& breakfasts overseen by the Kinmen National Park Administration. A further23 B&Bs, including the "Family Inn", received silver medals aswell. Apart from allowing certified vendors to display a sticker of theiremblem, RDEC will also mark certified businesses on Google Maps. Users can thenvisit the RDEC "English Services Emblem" website to find merchantsthat offer English services.
