The 2012 Yangmingshan Tour of Ancient Trails and Autumn Silver Grass will begin in October
The Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters will organize the Ancient Trails and Autumn Silver Grass tour on October 12th (Friday), 20th (Saturday) and November 3th (Saturday), which will enable the public to experience the beauty of the autumn silver grasses and bask in the historical wisdom of the ancient trail cultures. The event will take place on the historically important Yulu Ancient Trail (also known as the Jinbaoli Trail), which was an important passage between Jinshan and Shihin during the end of the Qing Dynasty. The event will begin from the Shanghuanxi Parking Lot on the Yangjin Highway, and follows the Yulu Ancient Trail to Qingtiangang and Lengshuikeng. Volunteers will provide information on the historical heritage and ruins of early settlers and participants will also be able to enjoy the fantastic landscapes of silver grass, ferns and tree ferns along the trail. The event not only educates the public on the importance of environment conservation, but also allows them to experience a sliver of the hardship faced by early settlers.
