The Ministry of Interior’s Wetland Committee reached consensus with the Chunghua Coastal Wetlands and the 202 Arms Factory Wetlands

To preserve the important wetland environments, the Ministry of Interior has been promoting the designation and evaluation of Wetlands of National importance since 2007. The Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of Interior (CPAMI) also continuously interact and negotiate with local residents and related departments on wetland related matters. The MOI held a Wetlands of National Importance consultation meeting on the afternoon of September 11th, focusing on the evaluation of the designation of Xucuogang Wetland, and also reached consensus on the designation of 202 Arms Factory Wetlands as a Wetland of Regional Importance, and the area designation of the Chunghua Coastal Wetlands. The MOI has planned and promulgated 82 Wetlands of National Importance with a total area of 56,865 hectares, including 2 International, 40 National, and 40 Regional wetlands of importance. The work of promulgation of the newly designated wetlands will be completed shortly. The MOI will continue to conduct research and communication negotiations on unspecified wetlands, and will continue to uphold environment conservation and sustainable development.
