Some significant changes have been made to thisyear’s Taroko Gorge Music Festival and, whereas in the past the festival hadmorning and afternoon sessions at the Taroko Terrace venue, this year therewill be three sessions over two days. As well as retaining the Eternal SpringShrine Liwu River venue, for the first time, the seashore under Qingshui Cliffswill be a concert venue, the intention being to give the audience an all-newvisual and audial experience.

The theme of this year’s festival is Mountain and water sonata. The firstsession of the festival’s three sessions over two days will be from 3pm to 5pmon October 20 (Saturday) on the seashore under Qingshui Cliffs; the second andthird sessions will be on November 17 (Saturday) at Eternal Spring Shrine onthe Liwu River’s riverbed, the morning session from 10:15 am to 11:30 am andthe afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 4pm. The musical director will be cellistChang Cheng-jie and Pro-Art chamber orchestra and famous Taiwanese musicianswill perform.

This will be the 11th Festival since itwas founded in 2002. The beautiful natural environment of Taroko Gorge is thevenue, entry is free and every year almost 10,000 people attend. The festivalhas won a legion of dedicated fans and phones calls were received as long asseveral months ago asking about this year’s festival. At past festival’s themusicians played on stages erected on Taroko Terrace or Buluowan Terrace butthis year no manmade stage will be needed because the seashore next to thePacific Ocean and the Liwu River’s riverbed will be the natural stages,bringing musicians and audiences closer and also merging them more deeply intothe mountain and ocean scenery.

Taroko National Park Headquarters said that theplanning of this year’s festival began with the intention of being innovativeand having multiple sessions. The most vexing problem was choosing the venues.Eternal Spring Shrine was confirmed early on as a venue, and Hehuan Mountainand Shakagang Trail and other places were also considered as concert venues,however, in the end, a spot on the seashore below Qingshui Cliffs was chosenbecause of the outsandingly beautiful scenery.

The site of the concert will be the seashore belowDefeng fishing ground. Here, the seashore is wide and the cliffs can be clearlyseen behind and it can be said that the mountains and ocean will be the stagecurtains. Everyone can look forward to an all-new visual and audial experiencein a splendid setting.

2012年タロコ峡谷コンサート「山と水のソナタ」10月20日清水断崖、11月17日長春祠にて

タロコ峡谷コンサートは、これまでタロコテラス台地をメイン会場に年に一度午前の部、午後の部に分けて開催してきましたが、今年度は趣向を変えて、二回開催することになりました。お馴染みの長春祠タッキリ渓谷のステージに加え、今回初めての試みとして清水断崖下の海辺でコンサートを企画、ファンの皆さんにこれまでとは違った企画で視覚と聴覚にアプローチします。

今年の峡谷コンサートのテーマは「山と水のソナタ」、二回に分けて三ステージ開催します。一回目は10月20日（土曜）15時から17時まで清水断崖下の海辺で、二回目は午前の部が10時15分から11時30分まで、午後の部が14時30分から16時まで長春祠タッキリ渓谷において、いずれもチェロ奏者張正傑の指揮で、弦外之音室内樂集及び台湾著名演奏家が出演予定。

タロコ峡谷コンサートは2002年に始まり、今回で11年目を迎えました。タロコ峡谷の美しい自然の中で開かれる無料コンサートとして、毎回一万人近い観衆を集めています。今年も数ヶ月前より楽しみにしてい　るファンの方々から問い合わせの電話がたくさんありました。従来はタロコテラス台地又は布洛湾にステージを組んで開催していましたが、今年は人工のステージを組まずに太平洋とタッキリ渓谷をそのままステージにして演奏することになりました。観客は奏者にとても近い距離で、しかも雄大な山と海の自然と一体となって音楽に浸れるでしょう。

今回峡谷コンサートを企画するにあたってタロコ国立公園管理処は、新しいアイディアと回数を増やす方向でプランを練ってきました。中でも場所の選択には思考を重ね、長春祠はもちろん、合歓山や砂卡礑遊歩道が候補に挙げられましたが、最終的に風景が一番美しいということで清水断崖に決まりました。

清水断崖のコンサートは得豊漁場下の海岸で開かれます。ここは比較的広い砂利浜で後方に清水断崖が一望できるところです。高く聳える山と広大な太平洋をバックに他所に無い新しい視覚と聴覚に迫るコンサートをお楽しみください。
