CAPMI continues to advocate protection of the nation’s significant wetlands and related legislation.

To effectively manage and protect the wetland ecologies in Taiwan, the Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior (CAPMI) has been continuously involved in the key mediation works for zoning of the wetland reserves and taken actions to effectively review the nation's wetland policies. CAPMI continues to push forward wetland related legislation, with the goal of continuously improving the nation's wetland management system.
To preserve the nation's significant wetlands, since 2007 the Ministry of the Interior has launched a series of programs to evaluate and plan wetland reserves. However, there are still divergent opinions on some of the prospect wetland reserves selected in the evaluation process. These wetlands are currently classified as undetermined reserves and CAPMI takes on the mission of continuously communicating and mediating between local communities and the relevant authorities. Through several mediations, forums, and on-site surveys, the Ministry of the Interior called for a National Significant Wetland Consultation Taskforce Meeting. This meeting reviewed part of the wetlands and discussed the classification and zoning of the 202 Arsenal Wetland and Changhua Coastal Wetland.
