Taroko National Park Headquarters calls on hikers in the Qilai Mountain area to love and care for the mountains.

Qilai Mountain is a protected area in the Taroko National Park. This protected area is home to many large mammals, like wild sambar deer, muntjac, and goats, and precious endemic birds and plants. This area is classified as a vulnerable highland ecosystem; once the habitats are damaged, the survival of endangered species will be jeopardized. Taroko National Park Headquarters calls on hikers to take extra precaution when entering the mountain area and conduct activities with love and respect for nature. The park administration urges hikers to take away all garbage and food leftovers from the mountains, including used tissue paper, and also use fire with caution, and properly bury excrements. Taroko National Park Headquarters has also been organizing a mountain cleaning event for several years. We welcome everyone to join us in cleaning the mountains. The fragile ecosystem needs your care and respect. We hope that the next time you visit the Hehuan and Qilai mountains, you will see nothing but a beautiful landscape.
