The Council for Economic Planning and Development, in principle, supports the “2012-2015 National Park Mid-Term Plan” proposed by the Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior.

In its 1440th meeting held on November 5, the Councilfor Economic Planning and Development (CEPD), in principle, gave its support tothe “2012-2015 National Park Mid-Term Plan” proposed by the Construction andPlanning Agency, Ministry of the Interior (CPAMI). This plan aims to activelyimprove the national park conservation system, implement conservation research,continuously develop environmental education, activate the development ofeco-tourism, and establish international partnerships. This plan is expected toeffectively protect natural and cultural resources and ensure sustainabledevelopment. The content of this plan covers the scopes of reinforcingconservation and research of natural/cultural resources and biologicaldiversity, upgrading guide services and management efficiency through effectiveutilization of information and communication technology, developing partnershipswith indigenous peoples by incorporating them into the process of park andeco-tourism management, actively improving infrastructure to provide visitors easy-accessand environmental-friendly facilities, and implementing the EnvironmentalEducation Act to further develop the system of environmental education. The objectiveis to achieve four goals, “conservation and sustainability”, “experience andeducation”, ”partnership and shared prosperity” and “efficiency and innovation”.We strive to develop the national parks into a representative symbol of Taiwan in theinternational eco-tourism market.
