Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park hosts the “Caring for Taiwan Series Seminar- Visiting the Intertidal Zones of Liuqiu”
Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park is hosting the Visiting the Intertidal Zone of Liuqiu Seminar on 2012 November 17th (Saturday) from 10am to 12pm. This seminar is part of the Caring for Taiwan Series. Associate Professor Luo Liu-Hsi from theDepartment of Geography, National Kaohsiung Normal University, will be the main speaker in this event. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome to join us.
Liuiu Township is an island standing alone in the ocean approximately 8 nautical miles southwest of Pintung County's Donggang Township or 18 nautical miles southwest of Kaohsiung City. This shoe-shape isle is the only coral reef island among the 14 islands under of the sovereignty of Taiwan. The Liuqiu Island is covered with coral limestone and the coast is surrounded by protruding coral reefs.
