The natural scenery of the rifted valley in Taroko National Park provides countless creation resources to many artists. Hualien-based artist Chen Xiu-Ju painted the beauty of Taroko with pastel and shared this beauty at the "Tall Mountain and Long River: The Heart of Hualien Western Pastel Painting Exhibition" held at the Special Exhibition Room of Taroko National Park Visitor Center. The public is welcome to this exhibition, which will display about 35 pastel works of Chen featuring the scenery of the archway on the Central Cross-Island Highway, Changquan Shrine, Taroko Rifted Valley, Qingsui Cliff, and Sanjian River in Taroko National Park. Scenery in these works also include the Qixing Lake and Liyu Lake in Hualine, as well as the Mt. Lishishi and Mt. Chike south of Hualine. The great mountain and river landscapes of Hualien are worth taking care of and recording. The multiplicity and colorful tones of pastels can best depict the colorful changes in nature, and their power strokes are ideal to interpret the splendor and magnificence of the Taroko Rifted Valley. When visiting Taroko, visitors should not forget to appreciate these great pastel works at the visitor center, so as to feel this wonderful treat for the body and mind.
