Presenting Taroko Tribe culture with “song-drama”: Official publication of Echoing Taroko

The film Echoing Taroko featuring the folk music of the Taroko Tribe and presented in song-drama was officially published in the afternoon on December 13 for the public to better understand the culture of Taroko Tribe through music and drama. According to Director-General Tseng Wei-Hong of Taroko National Park Headquarters (TNPH), the Taroko Tribe culture is an important cultural heritage of Taiwan. Besides a great film, it is a good record and archive of the valuable culture of the Taroko Tribe. The film also introduces the eastward movement, facial tattoo, weaving, rattan weaving, xylophone and mouth harp playing, hunting intelligence, and agriculture and millet harvest of the Taroko Tribe. For example, why ancient Taroko women wore tattoo on their face? Where did ancient the Taroko people find the patterns on their weavings? How did the Taroko elders arrange the marriage of their children? The production team has combined these cultural contents in the beautiful songs in ancient tune and turned the gorgeous scenery of Taroko National Park into a natural stage to demonstrate the cultural details of the Taroko Tribe.
