Shakadang Trail to reopen to the 3rd sightseeing platform since 9:00 on 3 January 2013
Typhoon Saola has brought rock-falls, landslides, road foundation damage, and severe guardrail damage to many points on the Shakadang Trail in Taroko National Park. After immediate rescue, planning, re-construction, and repair re-confirmation, Taroko National Park Headquarters (TNPH) will re-open the trail to the 3rd sightseeing platform (at about 478m from the trail entrance) after 9:00 am on 3 January 2013.
Shakadang Trail is a scenic landscape with the highest accessibility in Taroko National Park and the closet one to the Taroko Visitor Center. As the trail is gentle, the water running beneath is clear, the stone reflections in the water are gorgeous, and the local fauna and flora is comprehensive, the trail has become one of the popular scenic spots in Taroko and must-visit attraction of visitors. According to TNPH, in consideration of the visitor safety and re-construction progress, the entire trial will be re-opened after it is completely recovered, the acceptance inspection is completed, and safety is assured. The TNPH is sorry for all inconveniences caused and will notify the public over the TNPH website when the entire trial re-opens.
