Snow season traffic control on Mt. Hehuan begins from January 1 to February 28
The snow season of the Mt. Hehuan has begun! In order to maintain fluent traffic and visitor safety during the snow season, Taroko National Park Headquarters (TNPH), the Hualien County Government, and Nantou County Government co-implement the Mt. Hehuan Snow Season Traffic Control. Vehicle entry control will be applied based on the actual traffic condition, and visitors travelling to Mt. Hehuan for snow appreciation are reminded to cooperate with the control measures. TNPH also recommends visitors to pay attention to their health condition, prepare thick clothes, and check the suitability of their vehicles (if they are too old, not powerful enough, and equipped with AWD, enough fuel and water, and anti-freeze) before travelling to Mt. Hehuan for snow appreciation. Visitors may either prepare or rent tire chains and learn how to install and uninstall the chains. TNPH has prepared an instructional video showing visitors how to install and uninstall tire chains to save the installation/un-installation fees. Citizens can find the video on the TNPH website or YouTube.
