Taijiang National Park Represents Taiwan at the 2013 BirdLife World Congress, Awarded International Conservation Award

The world's largest and most important bird conservation organization Birdlife International hosted its 90th World Congress on June 22. BirdLife's Honorary President, Japan's Princess Takamado presented Taiwan with the International Conservation Award. Taijiang National Park Headquarters Conservation Research Division Chief Huang Guang-ying accepted the award on behalf of Taiwan and delivered an acceptance speech.

A Taiwan booth was set up at the venue with Taijiang National Park leaflets and specially filmed black-faced spoonbill ecology DVD created specifically for this occasion by Taijiang National Park. In addition there were other promotional conservation products on display, like milkfish (a species friendly to the black-faced spoonbill) cans, posters, hats, etc. Taijiang National Park's promotion of shallow seafloor breeding of milkfish, a species friendly to the black-faced spoonbill, fits in with the theme of this year's World Congress, "The Partnership Between Man and Nature". Many visitors inquired at the booth and some expressed a desire to visit Taiwan just to see the black-faced spoonbill.
