As a Precaution Against the Recent Rabies Outbreak, Visitors May No Longer Bring Pets into the National Park Core Protected Areas, Recreational Areas, and Visitor Centers
In order to ensure the safety of all visitors and to prevent the rabies outbreak from spreading, the following announcements have been issued and apply to all National Parks:
1. Effective immediately, the general public and hikers may no longer bring pets into the core protected areas of all national parks. All visitors are requested to remain vigilant and avoid contact with wild mammals, stray cats, and dogs. In the event of an injury, visitors should visit a hospital immediately to receive medical treatment and be given a rabies vaccination.
2. Visitors are prohibited from bringing pets into local recreation areas and visitor centers. Unvaccinated dogs and/or dogs without a leash may not be brought into national parks.
The CPAMI (Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior) asks all National Park Headquarters to double their efforts in informing those residents with dogs or cats living within the national park areas to make sure their animals are vaccinated against rabies and avoid contact with any wild animals.
