The "Warrior" Arrives: Taroko Stone Carving Unveiled on August 8
"Warrior" is the embodiment of the Truku heroic spirit. Taroko National Park Headquarters invited Hualien sculptor Lin Shu-de to create a stone sculpture with the theme of the Truku warrior. The finished piece was placed on the lawn of the Taroko Terrace. The sculpture was officially unveiled on August 8, Father's Day, adding another layer of meaning to the piece.
The piece is 230cm tall, 150cm wide and 150cm long. It is carved from black granite. The director of the Taroko National Park Headquarters expressed that becoming a warrior is the most important goal for every Truku man. They not only have to hunt in the forest, but also have to defend their tribe against foreign enemies, protect their families, and be able to weave rattan. These warriors are the backbone of the tribes and their families. Mr. Lin's sculpture clearly conveys the spirit and image of the Truku "warrior," "husband," and "father."
