2013 Kinmen Tunnel Music Festival

The “2013 Kinmen Tunnel Music Festival” was held on October 12 and 13 at the Jhaishan Tunnel. A total of six concerts over two days, or three per day, were held at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. An audience of 250 people stood on both sides of the waterway for the concert. Each concert lasted about 40 minutes. The popularity of the concerts led to an extra concert on 2:30 p.m. on October 12, to satisfy music fans.

2009 marked the 60th anniversary of the “Battle of Guningtou.” To celebrate the occasion, the Kinmen National Park Headquarters invited well-known cellist Professor Zhang Zhengjie to play at the country’s first “Guningtou Peace Prayer Concert” at the Kinmen Jhaisan Tunnel. This concert received a tremendous response from both the media and the public. This year, Kinmen National Park Headquarters invited Professor Zhang back to Jhaisan Tunnel to perform in the 2013 Kinmen Tunnel Music Festival. Music enthusiasts gathered to indulge in the waves of music rippling and resounding in the tunnels of Jhaisan.
