Pine trees of the Sun Yat-Sen MemorialForestin Kinmen National Park currently under biological control
Black pines and swamp pines in the Sun Yat-SenMemorial Forest in Kinmen National Park have suffered from Bursaphelenchusxylophilus in recent years, and many pines withmemorial and landscape value have withered. Kinmen National Park Administrationinvited Professor Tseng Hsien-Hsiung of the Department of Plant Pathology andMicrobiology, National Taiwan University to use the fungal predators of Bursaphelenchusxylophilus: Esteyavermicola, Hyphodermapraetermissum, and Hyphodermamutatum;medium insects that can become parasites in Bursaphelenchusxylophilus;and fungal predator of Monochamusalternatus:Beauveriabassiana for biological controlof Bursaphelenchusxylophilus.
