Baby otter brothers of Kinmen grow steadily

The 2 baby common otters emergency transportedfrom Kinmen National Park to Taipei Zoo on April 2nd are currentlydoing well and have shown stable growth. Although their eyes are still closed, they can now move their limbs and exercise in their “cradle.”

At first, the smaller baby otter cried outanxiously whenever it was being fed, but is now doing much better after gettingused to the nurse. After the baby otter finishes drinking milk, the nurselightly pats their back to get the air out and prevent hiccups. This is similarto taking care of Yuanzai when the giant panda was a baby. The baby otters are nowable to have bowel movements by their own and don’t need stimulation from thenurse after meals anymore
