The Coral Season has Arrived in the Seas of Kenting

Starting in 2010, Kenting National Park Headquarters personnel,volunteers, and local scuba diving trainers monitor and document the coralspawning at the water outlet and Tiaoshi between the second and fourth monthsof the lunar calendar every year. The peak of coral spawning was observedonApril 21st, in which over 20 species of coral were recorded at thewater outlet (Poriteslobata, Faviafavus, Diploastreaheliopora, Montiporacapitata,Galaxea, Cyphastreamicrophthalma, etc.), but less than 10 species wereobserved spawning in Tiaoshi (Gonioporadjiboutiensis,Turbinariapeltata, Montiporaverrucosa, Galaxeafascicularis,etc.). There are nearly 300 species of coralsin the waters of Kenting, andKinting National Park Headquarters will continue to monitor coral spawninguntil the middle of the fourth month of the lunar calendar. The headquarterscalls on scuba divers to be cautious of their safety at night and avoiddamaging the ecological environment of coral reefs.
