No parking on Shakadang Bridge at busy times please use the parking space at Taroko terrace

Shakadang Trail is one of the most popular scenic trails of Taroko National Park, visited by over 2000 people on ordinary days and over 3000 at holidays and peak times, consequently Shakadang car park often becomes full and the area around the trail entrance clogged with visitors and vehicles. Taroko National Park Headquarters calls on drivers of private cars and taxis and tour bus operators to make good use of the parking space on Taroko terrace during periods when traffic is heavy, for large groups to voluntary split up and enter popular scenic spots in separate groups, and for drivers not to randomly or illegally or park on Shakadang bride, affecting visit safety and recreational quality.

In summer vacation, when a large number of visitors arrive by private car, as well as strengthening the separation of vehicles and pedestrians and implementing a cap on the number of vehicles and people at Shakadang car park, Taroko National Park Police Corps will also clamp down on actions that are prohibited in the park and on illegal parking, and also strengthen traffic dispersion work, to ease the impact of crowding of vehicles and people in and around Shakadang car park. In the event that illegal acts or parking violations that affect traffic or visitor safety are witnessed, visitors are asked to take a photograph as evidence and report the incident to the park headquarters (03-8621100) or the park police (03-8621405) so that action can be taken.

To maintain air quality, when parking please don’t leave the engine running for a long period of time. Shakadang has been designated one of Taroko’s “smoking free” trails and smoking is banned along the whole trail. In accordance with Article 16 of the Tobacco Hazard Prevention Law enacted on April 1, 2014 smoking is prohibited in the area around Shakadang car park, except in the designated area. Smokers are asked to smoke only in the designated smoking area in Shakadang car park; there are cigarette butt bins in the motorcycle parking area and next to the large parking area on the east side of the public toilets.
