A researcher of the MarineNational Park Headquarters discovered three strangely looking fish of the family Gobiidae at an extremely shallow seaweed bed when patrolling the lagoon mouth on the west coast of Dongsha Island. The researcher could only determine that the fish be longed tothe family Gobiidae after on-siteobservations of its tail and pectoral fin. After bringing the fish back to thelaboratory for further observations, the fish were identified as a new fish species of  Dongsha Atoll National Park – Callogobiushasseltii.
