The water shortage crisis has been temporarily lifted, Shei-Pa National Park’s Xueijian and Erbensong will be reopen on March 14th

The water shortage crisis in Xueijian Recreation Area (Xuejian and Erbensong sections), Shei-Pa National Park has temporarily been lifted, and the area will be reopened on March 14th, 2015. The river source dried up as a result of the long drought, and this is the first time in 8 eight years Xuejian Recreation Area was closed due to water shortage. Thanks to the two consecutive days of rain brought by the cold front, the water shortage has temporarily been alleviated. To continue providing services to visitors, Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters decided to reopen the area on March 14th, 2015 (Saturday). Thanks to the successful conservation by Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters, the flourishing forest at Xuejian Recreation Area traps large amount of rainwater, allowing the river source to maintain a stable water supply, despite the relatively low water inflow. Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters completed sludge cleaning while the area was closed. However, rainfall over a short period of time brought large amounts of sand into the retention pond; the water is very murky and cannot be used as drinking water. Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters reminds visitors that the drought has been alleviated, but the water shortage is not completely lifted, and should still conserve and cherish water resources. The headquarters hopes that visitors will work together to endure water shortage.
