Located at the north most end of Taiwan, Datun Volcano Group has the most apparent volcano landscape in Yangmingshan National Park. It is also the only live volcano remaining in Taiwan. The volcano group is between the altitudes of 600 and 1,120 meters, in which Qixing Mountain is the highest peak. Located at the northwest mountain foot, Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area is a “living geology classroom,” and is a good destination for admiring hot springs and sulfur fumes, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists each year. To let more people understand how volcanos are formed and the landscape, Yangmingshan National Park Headquarters designed a guided mountain climbing event, besides climbing Qixing Mountain, the tour guide will explain specialized knowledge using simple words while taking participants on an in-depth volcano tour!
