Taroko National Park Headquarters steps up vegetation protection to prevent the spread of brown root disease
In light of the growing number of withered trees appearing in Lushui and Tianxian areas, Taroko National Park Headquarters does not treat it lightly. Landscape trees are mainly planted next to the road or park in Lushui and Tianxian areas, some sick trees may stand there for years without being recognized, but are still at risk of falling. Hence, Taroko National Park Headquarters will remove them for the safety of tourist’ lives and assets. The headquarters reminds tourists that ropes will be tied around the areas when removing the trees, and that they should stay away. The headquarters is actively consulting experts and scholars with practical experience to control brown root disease, and has re-planned vegetation protection measures in the disease area to maintain ecological and environmental resources. The headquarters is also stepping up personnel training and inspections of the state of health of trees, so as to maintain the quality of the landscape in the national park
