Longshui Village, Hengchun Township has preserved a rare rural landscape in Kenting National Park. The village has been actively promoting its organic rice in recent years. It used natural materials to build earth embankments and irrigation canals, and draws natural spring water for irrigation, using a natural and pollution-free way of cultivating organic rice. Kenting National Park Headquarters collaborated with Longshui Community Development Association in organizing four batches of the “organic rice harvest working holiday” on May 30th and 31st and June 6th and 7th, welcoming participants from all sectors. Community interpreters will take tourists to personally cut rice, remove husk, and bind straw, so that they understand the hard work of farmers. The interpreters also promote organic rice and let tourists understand that organic toxin-free food is not only safe, but also achieves environmental and soil conservation.
