A Hundred Participants Complete the Challenge of “2015 Taijiang Youth Camp”
Taijiang National Park Headquarters, Haiweichao Temple, and Tainan Community University Taijiang Branch jointly held the “2015 Taijiang Youth Camp” on July 25th, 2015. Over 200 youth from around Taiwan attended the camp. Deputy Mayor Yen Chun-Tso, Legislator Chen Ting-Fei and Deputy Director General Lin Kuo-Hua of the Tourism Bureau arrived to encourage the students. On the day of the event, participants set out from Haiweichao Temple and followed the Chianan Canal, which has significant historical meaning, to the ferry. The participants were divided into groups for interpretation and sharing, so that they could learn the history and culture of Taijiang pioneers, as well as features of Taijiang National Park’s wetland ecology. There was good weather with a cool breeze from evening to nighttime, when they traveled 20 km and safely arrived at Luermen Matsu Temple. Director-General Chang Wei-Chuan of Taijiang National Park Headquarters issued certificates to participants that completed the walk. “Taijiang Youth Camp” is a long-distance walk with in-depth observations and serves the purpose of environmental education. It closely ties local partnerships and cooperation, and allows participants to understand different values and contents of national parks, guiding them to protect local culture, ecology and environmental quality, so as to achieve sustainable development.
