Black-faced spoonbills have arrived for the winter of 2015! Black-faced spoonbill survey work has begun!

Fall has arrived and the weather is getting colder. Black-faced spoonbills have arrived in Taiwan. Park ranger Li Ming-Hua discovered 2 black-faced spoonbills in the protected area resting and picking their feathers at 6:15 A.M. this morning (11th). The birds were clearly exhausted from a long journey, and were ready to spend the winter in Taiwan. To gather public opinion on conservation of black-faced spoonbills, we held a “Workshop on Habitat Issues of Black-faced Spoonbill”, which was attended by both public and private sectors, on August 28th, as well as two “Black-faced Spoonbill Research and Conservation Vision Forum” for scholars and experts in Taipei and Tainan. A total of 27 scholars and experts attended the forums and enthusiastically discussed future research, conservation, interpretation, education and community eco-tourism for black-faced spoonbill, providing a basis and objectives for future conservation work.
