The traffic control applies to the Highway No. 8 at km 176.3, five passage a day

Due to the serious rockslides at km 176.3 on the highway No. 8, for the safety of road users the Highway Bureau Luoshao Maintenance office shows that the repair work will continue to improve the safety of road users. The traffic control is in effect at km 176.3 at Zhuilu Tunnel, the passage for cars and pedestrians 5 times during the day and closed for the night time. The 5 passage time are 06:00am-08:00am, 10:00-10:10, 12:00pm-13:00, 15:00-15:10, and 17:00-19:00. The highway No. 8 will closed during the night time at km 179 after Buluowan- Tianxaing(at km 169) from 19:00 to the second morning 6:00. Traffic Control section: Highway No. 8 after Buluowan(at km 179) to Tianxiang(at km 169). Control Period: April 1-2 & April 6- 30, 2016 There are no traffic controls from April 3 to April 5, 2016(national holiday NOT including April 2). From the east entrance(at km 186.5) to Taroko gorge driving further west to this traffic control point is about 12-15 minutes by car. The Swallow grotto trail(located at 178.8km/ 1.38km/ about 30 minutes one way hiking trail) opens vehicles to small cars and 20 sitter buses(including) but not allowed 40 sitter buses entry this trail(Not in the traffic control area. Located east of the traffic control point). Visitors are allowed to enter the gorge from the east entrance to Buluowan(about 10km/15 by car). The Buluowan recreation area is still opened to visitors. Be very careful and not to enter road closed areas. The followings trails are open to visitors: 1.Xiaozhuilu Trail(start from the park headquarters- Shakadang trailhead 1km/20 minutes one way) 2.Shakadang Trail(open section from trailhead to 5D Cabin-Wujianwu/3km for a round trip/an hour hike) 3.Buluowan upper terrace trail(300 meter) 4.Eternal Spring Shrine trail--only open the east(Zen Monastery) trailhead to the bell tower. The rest of trail is closed due to the rockfalls. One can choose to stop for photos taking for this scenic spot. 5. Dekalun trail- located at the taroko terrace- start at the park HQ (2 hr for a round trip) 6. Lushui Trail(2km/ about an hour hike) 7.Huide Trail- located at Highway No. 9 Visitor are advised to change your travel plans ahead not to enter the construction traffic control point to avoid rockfalls site. The above mentioned trails are no need for permits. Only if you are entering the park eco-protection areas and the Old Zhuilu Road, you are required to apply both permits.
