2016 Coral Reef Ecological Conservation Week Series Events at Kenting National Park

Kenting National Park Headquarters, along with Taiwan Coral Reef Society and Taiwan Underwater Photography Association , conducted a series of coral conservation events during this year’s coral breeding season in hopes of achieving the vision of resource sustainability.

Besides the traditional coral breeding observation, underwater photography exhibitions, and ocean cleanup events, this year’s coral week events once again cooperated with Taiwan Ocean Research Institution, National Applied Research Laboratories to conduct real time video observations. This allows more ocean-lovers to experience the annual ocean festival for coral breeding from the very first moment. Besides inviting many scholars and experts to host “Preserving the Blue Sea: A Popular Science Course on the Ocean” and explain their profound ideas with everyday language. The “Tidal Songs: Ocean Musical Festival” was also held to connect people with the ocean by using visual and auditory methods and guiding citizens to care more about the ocean.

Marine conservation should be a popular movement. We should adjust our attitudes towards the ocean, promote the concept of sustainable ocean from childhood, and implement ocean-caring and ocean-protecting behaviors in our everyday life.
