“Log cabins,” shelters for hikers, are hard-earned and should be cherished and well maintained!

Although “log cabins” are incomparable against high-tech and comfortable houses in modernized and civilized regions, they still provide hikers with accommodation and function as emergency shelters. They are not easy to build, and even harder to maintain.

Yushan National Park Headquarters calls on hikers to cherish and utilize log cabin facilities appropriately. We expect all hiking teams to conduct autonomous management and restrain hikers’ behaviors. During accommodation, please keep the log cabin, toilet, and its surrounding environment clean. Trash and food wastes should be wrapped up and hung aloft to prevent wild animals from eating them. By not allowing wild animals to connect human beings with food, we can prevent unnecessary conflicts between wild animals and human beings, which then further affect their ecological habits and living spaces. If you plan to return to stay the next day, please deal with unfinished foods appropriately, neatly organize the placement of personal equipment, and follow the principles of taking the trashes and food wastes down from the mountain the mountain. Hikers should properly recognize the natural environment and ecology of Taiwan and preserve this life-giving land.
