World Earth Day: Cigu Shore Environmental Art Creations and Ocean Environmental Activities
Taijiang National Park has organized the “Cigu Shore Environmental Art Creations and Ocean Environmental Activities”, raising attention on issues regarding waste in ocean environments and its threat to surrounding organisms through art creations.
The exhibition will be presented from April 22 to May 31 at Liukong Service Station. The display includes 4 works, one is which is a wood carve of a life-sized sperm whale, recreating the adult sperm whale that stranded on the shore of Dongshih Chiayi on October 18, 2015. Although the sperm whale returned to the sea after being assisted by many, it was found dead at the estuary of Bajhang River a few days later. Dissection showed numerous indigestible plastic bags within the whale’s stomach. Another work, “Tomorrow’s Dinner ”, uses collected waste produced by fish farming such as styrofoam material, calling awareness to the increasingly problematic situations of the ocean and environment. Visitors of the exhibition can receive a free pencil gift case from Liuking Service Station by checking in at the exhibition on Facebook.
