2016 Hehuanshan Summer Cleanup

Taroko National Park Headquarters (TNPH) and Dongshih Forest District Office (DFDO) of the Forestry Bureau co-organized on August 13 the “2016 Hehuanshan Summer Cleanup” activity. At the main peak, east peak, and north peak of the Hehuanshan and the entrance of Mt. Shimen, TNPH staff invited visitors to join the mountain cleanup. Over 300 visitors participated in the activity and cleaned up five bags of garbage each over 50kg. Although it was a wet, cold, and drizzling day, volunteers and staff invited mountaineers and visitors to join the cleanup enthusiastically. TNPH and DFDO also presented souvenirs to visitors participated in the activity onsite.

The Hehuanshan is the most easily accessible tall mountain in Taiwan. TNPH specifically urges citizens to be more considerate and not to litter when they visit the mountain. TNPH also advises citizens to bring all garbage back with them in order to maintain the beauty but vulnerable ecosystem and landscape of the Hehuanshan.
