2016 National Park Week: Exploring Water Forest in Taijiang National Park
The tidal change at the wetlands in the Taijiang National Park is gentle. Mud and humus carried down by the river thus settle and deposit here to form a muddy basin where the splendid, luxuriant water forest—mangroves—is located.
Taijiang National Park Headquarters (TJNPH) will pilot the “Taijiang National Park Water Recreation Exploration Camp” during September 3-4 2016. At the camp, participants can observe animals and plants endemic to the intertidal zone and explore the mysterious mangroves in Taijiang with the non-powered, non-polluted vehicle—canoe. By organizing this activity, TJNPH hopes to blend environmental education and low-carbon lifestyle with the everyday leisurely life of the public with non-powered water recreational activities, in order to disseminate the concept of wetland conservation and provide a reference for amending management regulations relating to water recreational activities in the future.
The “Taijiang National Park Water Recreation Exploration Camp” is an activity combining water recreation and environmental education. TJNPH recommends families to join the activity. There will be four sessions, each with 20 vacancies. The camp is free and will close until all vacancies are filled.
