Due to the disasters caused by torrential rain and consecutive typhoons in Jun 2012, the 9.5 KM point of Simaxian Forest Road heading towards Xuejian Recreational Area, Shei-Pa National Park suffered a severe landslide. After 3 years of repairing and constant observation, Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters plans for the road to be re-opened starting from January 27th.

Currently, visitors can reach Xuejian Recreational Area starting from Dongshi or Zhuolan, going along Daguan, Daan, Meiyuan and Tiangou via Taichung City Highway No. 47, reach the 13.7 KM point of Simaxian Forest Road, and proceed there. Visitors can also start from Dahu, pass Zhongxing Checkpoint, can reach the point at Simaxian Forest Road which is re-opened.

Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters reminds citizens to please be aware of the road conditions at all time when driving in mountainous areas and drive cautiously.
