International Union for Conservation of Nature Experts Share New Trends at "IUCN Green List International Workshop" in Taiwan

In keeping with the latest international environmental conservation trends, the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior has been actively networking with the international community, and hosted the "IUCN Green List International Workshop" on May 14 and 15, 2018 in the International Conference Hall of the Shih-Liang Hall at National Taiwan University.

The international workshop, which lasted one and a half days, included thorough explanations by four foreign experts and scholars, and comprehensive discussions with domestic experts and scholars. It provided a thorough overview of new international trends in conservation work and the details of applying the Green List to staff at the key competent authorities for conservation in Taiwan, such as the Forestry Bureau and Taiwan Forestry Research Institute of the Council of Agriculture, the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, and national parks.

According to the attending scholars, our national parks are in fact already compliant with the standards of the Green List, thanks to over 30 years of good operations and management. They hope to catch on this global trend early, and recommend suitable national parks to begin the Green List application through indicator localization and forming review committees.
