Wenshui Visitor Center Creating an Accessible Tourism Park by Setting up Muslim Prayer Facilities

Wenshui Park of Shei-Pa National Park attracts a large number of domestic and international tourist every year. In recent years, the government has been vigorously promoting travel and tourism, and together with the New Southbound Policy, the number of tourists has increased. In order to create an accessible tourism environment, Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters has set up a Muslim prayer room at the Wenshui Visitor Center.

At present, wooden floors have been laid down in the prayer room, while prayer spaces have also been set up that require visitors to remove their shoes prior to use. In addition, the prayer room has also been set up to correspond to the Qibla compass (direction facing Mecca to perform prayers). Facilities for Muslim visitors include the Koran and prayer mats, while the dedicated accessible toilet next to the prayer room has been fitted with ablution facilities for cleansing needs.

Special thanks to the Islamic Association of Taiwan for their consultation and assistance, and the donation of the Koran by the Taichung Masjid. The prayer room was completed and opened in 2019. Visitors requiring the facilities can apply for use at the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters service desk and personnel will be available to offer assistance. We hope to provide an even better sightseeing experience for Muslim tourists.
