Three Additional Accessible Attractions in National Parks Announced
The Construction and Planning Agency has been actively promoting the accessible environment plan to construct access-friendly routes, strengthen public support for the senior community, and facilitate the visits to national parks for seniors, people with limited mobility, and children.
By April, the Construction and Planning Agency had completed the improvement of the existing buildings in every national park and their surrounding accessible environments. The Agency also looked for recreational areas that had potential and could be constructed into accessible environments to make further improvements. In compliance with the "Design Standards of Accessible Facilities in Activity Venues Under the Jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior", which was implemented on October 22, 2015, it has been announced that accessible trails that are about 10.3 kilometers long can be provided at 11 recreational venues. An example is the accessible trail at the Maobitou Park Visitor Center in Kenting National Park. There are 3 accessible recreational venues scheduled to be introduced, including the Tataka accessible trail in Yushan National Park. It is about 3.5 kilometers long. When everything is completed, a high-quality scenic trail about 13.8 kilometers in length will be provided.
