Mountains Will Always Be There Ministry of the Interior: Prepare for the Trip Before Setting Off
Out of the 100 Peaks of Taiwan, 76 can be found in alpine-type national parks. The wealth of natural and cultural sceneries that the parks offer attract people to visit and experience them in person. To make it easier for visitors to choose suitable trails for themselves, the national parks have classified the 92 trails into levels 0 to 6 according to their difficulty, and a checklist for individual and group equipment is also provided.
To convey the importance of advance preparation and risk assessment before going hiking, the National Parks have produced a short video on hiking safety themed on the most common cause of mountain accidents—getting lost—based on real stories. The Ministry of the Interior would like to remind the public that the mountains will always be there, and that it is important to be well-prepared before hiking to ensure safe and unhindered mountaineering.
Information about the National Park trail system classification and the hiking safety video can be found on theNational Parks of Taiwan official website、National Parks of Taiwan Facebook page, andHike Smart Taiwan Service. The full video can be viewed on theYouTube channel.
