The Marine National Park Headquarters Joined Forces with Decommissioned Marine Volunteers and Jin-Hu Elementary School to Organize Coastal Cleanup in South Penghu Marine National Park
The Marine National Park Headquarters continually promotes the concept of ecological conservation and maintains the cleanliness of marine environments as well as deepens partnerships and environmental education. From May 11 to May 13, the Headquarters invited local institutions such as the Taiwan Promise Public Welfare Association, Tainan City Jin-Hu Elementary School, Tainan City Ecotourism Development Association, Seventh Division of the Seventh Special Police Corps - South Penghu Division, Dongji health station, and Dongji safety inspection station to implement coastal cleanup on the Daping Coast of Donji Island and the coast under Dongji lighthouse.
In the coastal cleanup, a total of 62 bags (approximately 958 kg) of waste was cleared out, among which 28 bags (approximately 290 kg) were recyclable waste, and 34 bags (approximately 668 kg) were normal waste, consisting mainly of waste fishing tools and nets (36%) and polystyrene (26%). Among which, plastic bottles primarily came from China (approximately 87.6%).
We ask visitors to kindly recycle and dispose of garbage properly to reduce the damage to environment. Taking into account that waste removal from offshore islands is not easy, please reduce waste and remove it from the offshore islands with you.
