Building the Taijiang Green Conservation Map with Fishermen and Launching Eco-friendly Products under the Brand of Black-faced Spoonbill
In order to preserve the fish farming culture of harmony between man and nature, Taijiang National Park has been working with fishermen to create an environment in private fish farms for black-faced spoonbills to safety look for food. Fishery products produced with eco-friendly measures can be labeled with the trademark of the national park conservation brand of Black-faced Spoonbill after review.
To be labeled with the trademark of Black-faced Spoonbill, a product has to come from an eco-friendly habitat fish farm certified by the National Park. Fishermen have to cooperate with eco-friendly habitat measures, including sunning the ground when black-faced spoonbills come to winter every year, maintaining 20 to 30 centimeters of water level for 5 or more days consecutively, refraining from using chemicals, refraining from collecting low-level and small fish, refraining from chasing birds away, and long-term cooperation with bird survey and research.
The brand of Black-faced Spoonbill symbolizes a significant breakthrough in the awareness of ecological conservation in the fish farming culture in Taijiang. Fishermen are willing to allow migratory birds to look for food in their farms, and consumers are willing to share their dinner from fisheries with the black-faced spoonbills.
