We Can’t Burden the Mountains with our Garbage, Changes Begin with the Hiking Plan

Now that the summer vacation has started, the general public is welcome to experience the beauty of National Parks and the nature of Taiwan while following the regulations and measures for epidemic control. The Construction and Planning Agency reminds visitors to choose suitable hiking paths for their fitness levels by referring to the levels of hiking trails of National Parks. In addition, the “Leave No Trace” principle should be followed when visiting nature and cultural or historical sites to reduce the disturbance of human activities on nature, in order to protect the valuable natural resources of Taiwan.

National Parks are important areas for ecological conservation. Visitors should take away their own garbage, so that it may not be ingested by wild animals (such as black bears), which get attracted by the smell of food, as this may interfere with their natural habits. Even fruit peels or fruits cannot be disposed of improperly as they do not belong to the local environment. Exotic plant species can easily damage the valuable local ecology that we strive to protect.
