Marine National Park Headquarters and NGOs Partner to Protect the National Park's Coastal Environment and Natural Resources

The Marine National Park Headquarters constantly promotes ecological conservation and maintaining the cleanliness of the marine environment. The Marine National Park Headquarters partners with NGOs to organize 2 big-scale non-periodic beach cleanups each year and calls out to the general public to contribute to protect the national park's coastal environment and to cherish our planet's resources. Since 2021, 636.5 kilograms of recyclable waste and 1,322.9 kilograms of non-recyclable waste have been removed via beach cleanups.

The second beach cleanup this year was scheduled for August 29 to August 31. A total of approximately 553.5 kilograms of waste were removed and statistical data on marine debris was gathered and analyzed. Out of these, approximately 186 kilograms were recyclable waste and approximately 367.5 kilograms were non-recyclable waste. The latter was mainly polystyrene, which accounted for 283.5 kilograms or approximately 77% of the total. In addition, plastic bottles—marine recyclable waste—picked up at the Daping Coast were found to mainly come from China (approximately 14.8%).
