Taroko National Park Headquarters Holds Book Launch for the Newly Published Yayung Takilis: Wandering Along the Gold River, Adding a Piece of the Puzzle to the Truku People’s History

In order to continue adding to the establishment of the cultural and historical database of the Taroko region, the Taroko National Park Headquarters commissioned Professor Lee Jui-Tsung, who has specialized in the history of the development of the Central Cross-Island Highway and the ancient roads of Taroko for many years, to investigate the human history of the changes in transportation in the Taroko region during the Japanese colonial period, the construction and opening of the Central Cross-Island Highway, and the development of the National Park. The results have been published in a book titled Yayung Takilis: Wandering Along the Gold River. The book launch of Yayung Takilis: Wandering Along the Gold River was held on February 17, 2023.

Centering around the changes of transportation development in the Liwu River region, this book was published from the perspective of an addendum. Through Professor Lee Jui-Tsung's vivid storytelling and precious old photos, readers will learn about the past migration of people, events, places, and goods in Taroko from the perspective of the common people. Readers will explore the daily life of different ethnic groups in the mountains and forests of Taroko, such as collecting and surveying, traveling, learning, moving, building roads, settling down, and working.
