Construction and Planning Agency Announces Two New Accessible Venues in National Parks

The Construction and Planning Agency has announced two new accessible venues in the National Parks. One is the “Zuoying Old City Area” in Shoushan National Nature Park. The accessible trail starts from the Haiguang Parking Lot, passing through the Center of Old Fongshan City History and the old city gate of Zuoying, and extending to the archaeological excavation site. The trail is approximately 823 meters long, and is equipped with accessible parking spaces, accessible toilets, signage, and benches.

The second location is the “Tataka Area” in Yushan National Park. The accessible activity site is located at the highest point of the Central Cross-Island Highway. The newly-added accessible trail spans approximately 1.7 kilometers, with Paiyun Mountaineering Center, Giant Taiwan Hemlock to the Linzhi Mountain Trailhead, making a total of 2.133 kilometers of accessible trails.

The Construction and Planning Agency hopes to create a friendly environment to meet the needs of Taiwan’s aging society and people with disabilities, allowing more people to get up-close and experience the beauty of national parks.
