Taroko National Park Tops Taiwan's Must-See National Parks For Foreign Visitors Poll
National Parks of Taiwan conducted a poll—Taiwan's Must-See National Parks for Foreign Visitors—on its Facebook Fan Page from May 15 to 19, 2023, inviting netizens to recommend remarkable national parks and destinations to foreign tourists.
Taroko National Park secured the number one spot for its iconic attractions, including gorges and valleys, Zhuilu Old Road, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Swallow Grotto, Shakadang Trail, Baiyang Waterfalls Trail, and Water Curtain Cave, according to the poll results.
Following the Taroko National Park, Taijiang National Park that is famous for Sicao Green Tunnel, a mangrove-canopied waterway, also came highly recommended.
In addition, Yangmingshan National Park that boasts accessible spots, such as Qingtiangang Grassland, Bamboo Lake, and Xiaoyoukeng volcanic steam vents, is also a must-visit destination. Meanwhile, Longpan Park and Longpan Grassland of Kenting National Park are ideal places to find peace of mind.
Of course, the Wuling Recreation Area in Shei-Pa National Park and the main peak of Mt. Jade in Yushan National Park did not go unnoticed. Here are some of the highlights of the netizens’ comments.
Wang Ting-Zhu: “The Zhuilu Old Road in the Taroko National Park is definitely a bucket-list destination. It is an epic cliff trail built by the Truku indigenous people during Japanese rule, which must be visited once in a lifetime. But the entry permits come with a daily quota and are usually in high demand, so you must apply as early as possible. Only those who had been there know how breathtaking this place is!”
Edment Lin: “Qingtiangang is a location worth visiting in Yangmingshan National Park. It is accessible and the trip there is a short one. Walking on the endless grassland, you would find herds of cattle. By simply lying down on the grassland, your worries will be washed away.”
Kate Lin: “You definitely have to visit the mesmerizing Sicao Green Tunnel at Taijiang National Park. The waterway offers the loveliest view, with lush greenery reflections on tranquil water.”
Nadia Huang: “Don't miss the Longpan Grassland of Kenting National Park! It is perfect for appreciating natural scenery. When standing at the top of the grassland, you will be treated to clear coastal views. You can also appreciate the starry night sky while listening to the waves. The park offers multiple natural spectacles that will deliver great enjoyment to its visitors.”
Joyce Chang: “It is definitely worth visiting Yushan National Park and climbing up to the main peak of Mount Jade. From the triangulation point at the summit, you will be in awe of a stunning panoramic view of the mountain range.”
