National Park Service and Wan Hai Lines Partner to Plant Trees in Taichung Metropolitan Park to Protect Dadu Plateau
As global climate change severely impacts the environment, resulting in high temperatures, heavy rains, and droughts, the National Park Service and Wan Hai Lines Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Cooperative Afforestation and Maintenance Project since 2022, and have been working together to promote tree planting and conservation. The event Tree Planting for the Restoration of Dadu Plateau Natural Plant Groups will be held at the Taichung Metropolitan Park on May 14 this year (2024).
On the day of the event, the National Park Service and Wan Hai Lines will organize an educational talk to help participants understand the concepts of ecological succession and biodiversity. We should all do our part in Taiwan's ecological restoration. The goal is to meet the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 15 regarding terrestrial ecosystem conservation through physical tree planting activities, by promoting ecological succession and restoring the natural forests of the Dadu Plateau. It will support carbon sequestration by forests which can assist climate adaptation.
